Major works

Major Works are subject to very complicated legislation, and are subject also to the terms and conditions of the individual lease agreement.  It is therefore a very difficult subject to explain without the aid of particular schemes.

This section of the website aims to give leaseholders and freeholders a generalised overview of major works, referring to specific legislation and parts of the lease agreement and transfer document.

However, you should read it in conjunction with your individual lease agreement or transfer document, and relate it to specific works where possible.  It would also be useful to read the booklet within the leaseholder handbook that specifically relates to the lease agreement.

We have tried to make this subject as clear as possible, but it is a very complicated area.  Our advice must be, if in doubt, seek independent legal advice.
