About the eviction process

The TMO has a duty to collect rent arrears and maximise income. We will ensure that tenants in rent arrears are treated sympathetically and receive every assistance to pay their rent and an amount off the arrears. We can refer tenants in rent arrears to a number of organisations in the borough for specialist advice. However, if you do not pay your rent and fail to make an agreement to clear the arrears, the TMO will take action to evict you.

Once the court has agreed a date for your eviction, the court will write to you and the TMO. You must not ignore this letter. You should:

  • Contact your Housing Officer immediately to make an agreement to avoid being evicted. Follow this link to find out how to contact your Housing Officer: www.kctmo.org.uk/HousingOfficers.
  • Contact a recognised advice agency so that you can receive impartial legal advice and guidance. It may be possible to prevent the eviction.
