Surveying your property

Picture of TMO surveyors

From time to time the we may need to gain access to your home to undertake condition surveys. This could be for a number of reasons including:

  • Prior to major works being undertaken
  • The updating of the TMO's Housing Stock Condition Survey Records
  • To carry out specialist surveys such as identification of asbestos containing materials.

If the TMO need to gain access to your property to undertake survey work, the surveyor will carry identification and should have a pre-arranged appointment.

Do not allow any person into your home if they do not have the relevant identification or if you have any doubts. If you have any concerns about identification, please contact us on freephone 0800 137 111.

Asbestos surveys

As the majority of the TMO's stock was built at a time when asbestos was still widely used in construction, it is possible that asbestos-containing materials are present within your home.

Asbestos is only a potential health hazard if it is in poor condition and disturbed. It is our policy to ensure that properties are maintained in good condition.

The only way to assess whether asbestos-containing materials are present in your home is for specialist asbestos surveyors to visit you, carry out a visual survey, sample any suspect materials and take them for laboratory analysis.

If asbestos-containing materials in TMO properties start to deteriorate, or if we plan works that could interfere with them, we will arrange for the safe removal of those materials by licensed contractors.

If you have any concerns about asbestos, please contact us on our freephone number: 0800 137 111.
