This section of the website relates to all sold properties that were at one time or other tenanted residential properties of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and which still receive in some degree services or charges from the Council via Kensington and Chelsea TMO, be they leasehold flats, maisonettes, studios or freehold houses.
In the case of houses, though they are sold freehold they may well still attract service charges towards the estates where they are located, and be entitled to receive the services associated with those charges, often in common with the neighbouring leasehold properties. This handbook therefore includes information that may be of assistance to both.
As most of the residential properties sold by the Council are located in mixed tenure buildings or estates (i.e. they share the building or estate with flats rented out to Council tenants), the services provided would affect both owners and tenants alike. However, as a property owner you have a different financial association with the landlord, and are governed to a degree by different legislation.
