Introductory Tenancies

From Monday 22nd January the TMO will be adopting Introductory Tenancies for all new tenants. Introductory Tenancies are already used by many housing organisations to make sure new tenants pay the rent and respect the community. They are much easier to end than ordinary (secure) tenancies and will mean that TMO can act quickly if a new tenant persistently breaks the rules. The introductory period will usually last for twelve months, after which the tenancy will become secure.

Introductory tenancies will not apply to tenants transferring within the TMO or to mutual exchanges. The change does not affect existing tenants.
